A summer preaching series on Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians
Through July and August 2018 the lectionary will be focusing on the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesian church, and as a pastoral team at SMSM we’re inviting you along for the ride!
Here is the plan: we encourage you each week take 20 minutes to read through one chapter of Ephesians and then review the “preaching focus” reading for the week. To benefit even deeper, read through the entire letter in one sitting (it’s not long) each week.
Date | Weekly Reading | Preaching focus | Preacher 2018 |

As you read, we suggest holding 3 questions in mind which can help to listen for its message both for its original audience and for us:
- What? What word or phrases stand out for you? Is there a key idea or theme? Underline, make notes, engage!
- So what? What is the significance of what we hear in the text – as individuals? As a community of faith/the church?
- Now what? What difference does this make in our lives?
We look forward to dwelling in this rich book with you!
“…That you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph. 3:17-19)
Sermons from this series will be posted here (beginning July 15, 2018).
