Prayer

Fasting and Feasting

The First Sunday in Lent

Deu 26:1-11, Ps 91:1-2,9-16, Rom 10:8b-13, Lk 4:1-13

Preached by Ben Tshin on 10 March, 2019

O Holy Spirit, come Holy Spirit. Fill my mouth, fill our hearts with your word of faith. Amen What are you doing for Lent? This past week, around 80 people celebrated Shrove Tuesday by eating stacks of pancakes smothered in syrup. Because of all the pancakes and sausage and syrup, Shrove Tuesday is also called Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras. Traditionally, the pancake dinner is the meal immediately before Lent. Christians who were planning to give up eating rich foods like eggs, lard and sugar … [Read more...]

Praying for Fullness

Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

Ephesians 3:14-21

Preached by Ben Tshin on 29 July, 2018

From this church, we can look out the windows to see the construction of the Crosstown LRT. And across the street from our home, we can see cranes working on a new apartment building. So naturally we ask: “How big? How big will this be?” That is the natural question whenever we see work-in-progress. And Paul helps us answer that same question when looking at the work-in-progress construction site of our life in Christ. *** Before we look at this week’s reading from Ephesians 3, let us … [Read more...]

Called into Joy

The Third Sunday After Epiphany

Jonah 3:1-5,10; Mark 1:14-20

Preached by The Rev. Karen Isaacs on 21 January, 2018

Lord Jesus, as we hear your word of invitation this morning, open our hearts and our minds to your presence, and stir in us a desire to know and love you better. Amen. Intro - Violet’s Joy This past Wednesday evening I received a very special text. I think many of you know I have quite a pack of nieces and nephews back home in Winnipeg. My family is pretty close-knit, and we often text each other back and forth throughout the day. On Wednesday evening the text I received was a video from my … [Read more...]

St. Mary and St. Martha

The Anglican Church of St. Mary and St. Martha is a joyful, growing, and diverse community of faith where we together are learning what it means to follow Jesus in the west end of Toronto.

We build on the history and deep roots of four previous Anglican churches in the area: St. John, Weston; The Church of the Good Shepherd, Mt Dennis; St. David Lawrence Av; and The Church of the Advent.

We are truly seeing God doing something new - in our lives, our families, our church and our neighbourhood and we invite you to take part in this too.
